Comparison
Comparison.. They say it's the thief of joy. Is it true? Looking left and right, scrolling up and down *deep sigh* What does the Lord say?
Comparison can be tough at times and it’s so easy to do so with social media. We see everyone else’s highlight reel forgetting that that’s what it is .. a highlight reel. Most people don’t record themselves when they feel less than beautiful, or in tears, or deeply hurting inside. We compare ourselves to when people feel their best then we make ourselves feel small. Sometimes it’s healthy to see what others are doing. It helps to get a benchmark on where you’re at, where you want to go, and use it as motivation. But seeing other people’s content as motivation vs comparison is a very thin line that we must tread lightly on.
Instead of looking left, right, or scrolling up and down, we must look UP. Look towards the Lord and fix our eyes on Him. Matthew 6:33 says “ But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”. Comparing ourselves could be detrimental because then we think God doesn’t see us or want to give us the desires of our hearts since someone else received the blessing before we did. But we don’t know what that person went through and we don’t always know the source of that blessing. So many people accomplish things in their own strength or maybe just maybe the Lord wants to give you that blessing but is stretching you to bear different good fruits. The Lord’s timing is perfect and no one can thwart the plans of the Lord. The Lord wants to give you that marriage but wants you to rely on His love more than anyone else’s, the Lord wants you to lose weight but wants you to be patient with yourself and the results, and the Lord wants to give that financial blessing but wants you to release your pride. If the Lord gave us every single thing we ever desired right now .. in this moment- how long would we be able to sustain it?
We have to remember who we are set out to please? We should want to please our audience of one, being our good God Almighty. Attempting to please man is snare to us and will leave us exhausted. Galatians 1:10 says “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” We must desire to please God above all else. Walk with Him. He made us perfectly and knows the plans He has for us. We have to learn to stand on the truths that God shared with us. in His precious word that He even holds above His name. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “ Recently the Lord told me.. Myla you wouldn’t want to trade places with anyone else .. I promise. We must enjoy the life that God gave us because we all have our own mission to accomplish to give God the glory through our lives. For a long time, I wanted to be or be like someone else because I simply didn’t think my life had any value but that's a complete lie. It’s a lie because the Lord created me and knew the plans He had for me before I was knitted in my mother’s womb, before the foundation of the Earth, He had me in mind.
You don’t have to compare yourself because if we sit back to think.. We are sitting in someone else’s prayers. You are exactly where you need to be. I think it helps to think about what you’re grateful for.. legit say and count them out loud. God wouldn’t withhold a good thing from you, He’s preparing you, pruning you, pressing oil out of you that only you can produce. Jesus loves you deeply and sincerely. Nothing can separate you from the love of God as it states in Romans 8:38. Declare biblical declarations that you are wonderfully and fearfully made, you are His delight, you are the apple of His eye, and you are His beloved. It also states in Romans 12 not to conform to this world and renew your mind. Don’t look left or right .. look up because He got you and wants the absolute best for you💕
