The Pressure to Perform

Any ladies whoever felt pressured to just show up…. Plus, showing up not who you truly are but showing up the way you think people would prefer hmph, any hands raised🙋🏽‍♀️?! Yeah, uh-huh you are not alone I been there but if you relate with any of that I have said, then you just came upon the right blog post for you. It is time for your freedom! It’s time for the release of pressure, the relief of tension and to start to show up authentically and for those who you attended to impact!!!

Authenticity Over Approval

Many times what we tend to do as women, especially when were feeling the pressure to show up a certain way that society expects from us, rather it is by what we wear, how our make-up or nails look and the list goes on and on… we will conform. Instead, what that does is put a damper in your mood and your assignment that your meant to fill. See, it’s because you were meant to do something very impactful through your platform but what ended up happening instead is that you got drowned out by the applause of men and approval. You started to become fearful of what people will say about you. You started to listen to the trolls that really ain’t got nothing better to do. That’s why they try to shut you down, if we think of it this way, “I’m showing up to do what I was called to, and I’m not meant for everyone, but I am meant for someone and those people that I am called to serve is the people that who will stick around and receive what I am putting out.” What it is truly, is there are many people, (trolls, naysayers, haters) especially now a days that come into the comment section to tear you down instead of to build you up or give you their opinion on what you should be doing. What their doing by writing those type of negative comments, is showing what really is their insincerities.

The Unoffendable Heart

You need to be able to protect your mind against those thoughts by casting them down. Say to yourself “you know what I am not going to let that thought soak in, I won’t marinate on it” now replace it with the Word of God. The bible states in 2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Sometimes believe it or not the people are actually jealous, envious of you or sometimes hurting from their own insincerities and this is the only way that they know how to let it out but regardless of the why they said it, the point is that it’s meant to tear you down and make you feel fearful to show up authentically how your meant to. Proverbs 19:11(AMP) says, Good sense and discretion make a man slow to anger,
And it is his honor and glory to overlook a transgression or an offense [without seeking revenge and harboring resentment]

The Applause of Men vs. the Assignment of God

Repeat this after me… “I am confident in who I am and know who I am”. Now you won’t be so moved by what people say. On social media there can be a lot of carbon copies and unfortunately a lot of times we promote them. How might we do that? Because we tell them what we want instead of telling them “I’m just glad you showed up”, “I am so glad that I found your page”, “you helped me today in… (area)” and it might not be something “deep” that the Content Creator post. It could be someone that cooks online, but they helped teach you how to cook when you didn’t know how before or maybe even give you some recipe ideas. They might be a restaurant and without knowing, made you think differently about the foods that you maybe weren’t use to eating. They might be a comedy channel and there was a time you watched them and laughed when you saw their videos during a difficult time of your life, even a make-up artist that taught you how to take care of your skin and to also feel comfortable regardless with or without the makeup on. But many times, what ends up happening rather the Content Creator will say “you know well am seeing the algorithm preferring this video” and in order to appease the audience they will continue to carry out that one idea that everyone enjoyed the most because they want to rise (not all of course). They want the follows that lays in the applause of men that then they continue to push out that same content because of fame, riches that they begin to forget really what they were sent to do through their content on social media which was (IMPACT).

Let Go of Hustle, Grab Hold of Grace

Sometimes even out of a lack of patience and they can start to gain this hustle mentality as well. “I got to get it; I got to fit in”. I am here to tell you that you don’t need to do that. You don’t need to get it where you fit in. God already called you to be set apart; fearfully and wonderfully made so why do we tend to do/think the latter then what our Creator (God) has spoken about us? Why, because we don’t understand who He is or His love for us and really what the Lord has said about us because if we did then we would act/move/think like what He has spoken in His word about us; which is freedom. There’s a real enemy and that enemy wants you to feel pressured, like you’re never enough, he wants you to feel low self-esteem and pull yourself down then wear yourself out trying to over-perform. But the Lord instead wants to build you up not tear you down. Rather He reveals to you who you truly are and how much He loves you. Then you will be able to feel more confident about who you are as you get a revelation about who He is as well. The Word states in Daniel 11:32(b) but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. Now you be able to show up differently and make a greater impact.

Taking Authority Back

So I will like to ask you, will you continue to weigh yourself down while continuing showing up how you currently have been or will you take back authority over your situation, mindset, atmosphere (social space) all of the above? Or will you continue letting the enemy take YOUR peace, YOUR joy, YOUR freedom? See, there is Someone that can help you to live in freedom, set you free from bondage. You might not fully understand where am coming from as yet but keep journeying with me. In the Bible it says in 2 Peter 2:19, "For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery”. You been operating under bondage (a system of slavery) that you are told what to do against your own will (mind, will, emotions) instead of standing up for your rights. Take charge again over your social media account, over your well- being! If we being honest with ourselves, it started with us. It started with a lack of being grounded in our identities, confidence, then fear, doubt, worry came in and the list goes on But I’ll just do us a favor and stop right here. Whatever is the reason for you, I want to let you know there’s a way out, it doesn’t have to be like that.

An Invitation to Freedom

There is freedom and it is HERE and NOW! Imagine with me… you moving around with the weights (burdens) that you been carrying, but you dropping them and a heavy load now just been taking off of you. It’s like when you been outside walking in the heat carrying heavy shopping bags but that moment you finally get to drop them in the car, floor or better yet letting someone else take them woahhh (yeah feels good right) that’s what it is like when we cast our cares at the feet of Jesus (1 Peter 5:7).

A Prayer for Release

Pray with me… Jesus, I ask you to set me free from all the pressures. I ask you to be Lord over my emotions, to come and heal those parts of me that has been broken. And to set me free from every shackle. I thank you that you are the chain breaker and that you came to set me free in Jesus name, Amen. If you prayed that prayer with me, I want to say congratulations you made a step into your new fond freedom!!! Now I understand that not all of you that are reading this blog might be Christians, but if you will like to give your life to the Lord repeat after me Lord I repent of my sins , I ask you to forgive me of my sins, to make me clean and to become my Lord and Savior. Fill me with your Holy Spirit so that now I walk in my new found freedom and be empowered by your Spirit. Amen.
